"Gelignite Block" Shiraz 2002
Winemaker Keith Mugford
Colour and Condition: Brick red hue, almost inky in depth. Bright condition.
Nose: Complex Shiraz fruit aromas prevail - black current, honeysuckle and
earthy notes like roasted meat or ham for pea soup. Soft oak aromas add
a spicy lift to the background.
Palate: An initial impact of black currant fruit flavours fills the front and
mid-plate gives good weight and length. The fresh acid and medium body
ensure the wine is not heavy and then it finishes with firm but balance
oak and fruit tannins. This is also a wine that has immediate appeal
but the structure suggests that it will easily repay 5 to 10 years
cellaring.
Price: $25.00 per bottle; $285.00 per case. Limited Supplies Available
